Just in! Aberystwyth’s very own Peter Lambert has been confirmed as our fourth keynote speaker! Peter is a modern historian specialised in German history with a particular interest in uses of the past in the construction of German identities during the Nazi period. He has recently co-edited a volume on historical cultures together with Björn Weiler called How the Past was Used: Historical cultures, c. 750-2000. Peter’s current research focusses on the reception of Widukind and Charlemagne in the Third Reich and it is this kind of appropriating of medieval myths that he will discuss in his keynote lecture.
